About the Walk

In 2005, cervical cancer survivor Tamika Felder created Tamika and Friends, Inc. and joined a movement to eradicate cervical cancer. Based in the Washington, D.C. metro area and serving women nationally, T&F is a leader in HPV/cervical cancer awareness and support. T&F is committed to educating all women about HPV and its link to cervical cancer. In addition, the organization supports women who have been diagnosed with the disease.

Cervical Cancer is almost ALWAYS preventable, and the Beat the Clock! Walk, which was held on May 19 in Washington, D.C., was another way to make women aware of this fact. The walk was a first for both Tamika & Friends and the cervical cancer community, and it helped raise awareness about cervical health and the screenings that can prevent this disease. The thousands raised will be re-invested in the community T&F serves.

"This day was a celebration of those who have survived HPV/cervical cancer, and it honored those who have lost their lives to this disease," Felder said. "It also gave me great pride to provide a platform for women to create a network of strength, hope and support. Thanks to all of our volunteers, sponsors and everyone else who made this event a success. I look forward to next year."
