Audrey

hi guys, my story begins when i went for my regular pap smear november 2009, my results quickly showed severe dysplasia which mean pre-cancerous cells CIN3, (this isnt cancer!) these are cells that lie on the surface if the cervix but are not invasive cancer! i feel the need to say this because i was so confused by it all at the start! they arranged and appointment for these cells to be treated but in the meantime i fell pregant with my second son, so at 7 weeks pregnant letz was not an option... A biopsy was taken again at 28 weeks pregnant and the cancer had turned invasive. The rarer form adeno-carcinoma, which grows further up the cervical canal and isn as easily detected through regular paps was detected! My life fell apart............ My MRI results showed a 1.8cm cevical mass growing inside the cevix towards the vagina...stage1b1. Anyway i had a c-section, radical hysterectomy and lymphectomy 5 weeks later. My baby was born at 33 weeks and thank god he is brilliant never experienced one set back. When i visited my consultant 6 weeks post op, my lymph nodes were clear but the cancer had moved to the top of my vagina (stage 2a) resulting in removal of the top of it...requiring precautionary radio-therapy afterwards which i have just completed today!! (28 external beam 2 internal) They think that the hormones of pregnany fueled the cancer, they took my ovaries so i am going through the change its not so bad but i am only 32 years old! I planted a tree with my two sons today in the garden! New start! New future! Best of luck to you all, its a battle that the world faces... Love Audrey x
